My name is David, I am 21 and from Glenrothes. I originally started studying at Fife College with an NC foundation engineering course that gave you the fundamentals of engineering. This involved electrical, mechanical manufacturing, and I took the mechanical route from there I progressed through the NC, HNC and graduated with my HND. A friend of mine suggested that I apply to Fife College and study a course that I was interested in, and I have enjoyed every course that I have studied.

The area that I most enjoyed studying in mechanical engineering was the complex problems and formulas as you get satisfaction from working them out, along with getting hands on with machines such as milling, laiths and learning overall about the mechanical engineering field.

Since completing my HND at Fife College, I started an apprenticeship here at Babcock International and Rosyth Dockyard. My apprenticeship title is a Mechanical Fitter. This entails fitting and fixing all mechanical devices on ships, from engines, generators and so on.

I want to progress my career at Babcock International and complete my degree and get professional registration.
