Planning Your Journey

Fife College aims to be Net Zero by 2035, ten years ahead of Scottish Government targets. Travel to and from the college is a big part of our total carbon emissions and an area that continues to increase its impact on the environment.

Fife College is committed to reducing all emissions relating to travel, and encouraging the use of low-carbon transport to our campuses is a key action to reduce emissions. We have therefore detailed below some alternative methods of getting to campus.

Glenrothes Campus is a pleasant 20-minute walk from Glenrothes bus station, which is located next to the Kingdom Shopping Centre in the centre of town.

We have 12 bicycle racks and 3 bicycle storage cubes available at our Glenrothes Campus, which require a padlock to lock. There is also a bike maintenance pump available for cyclists. You can plan your cycle route to campus on cycle streets. 

Route 766 is a cycling route that connects Route 76 from Kirkcaldy to the North-East of Glenrothes via Thornton and Markinch, for those commuting from the Kirkcaldy area.

The nearest train stations to Glenrothes campus are Glenrothes with Thornton station and Markinch station. Neither of these stations are within walking distance of the college; however, Glenrothes with Thornton is a 14-minute cycle (southwest) and Markinch station is a 17-minute cycle, (northeast).

Markinch station provides direct and frequent links to Kirkcaldy (10 minutes), Dundee (35 minutes) and Edinburgh (1 hour). 

Glenrothes with Thornton station provides direct and frequent links to Edinburgh (1 hour), and Dunfermline (26 minutes).

Railcards can be purchased for those aged between 16-25 years, providing a 1/3 discount on all train tickets.

There is a bus stop outside the campus on Stenton Road. Buses that pass this campus are: 39B (Kirkcaldy to Pitteuchar or Glenrothes bus station), 43, X54. 

For more services it is a 20-minute walk from the campus to Glenrothes Bus Station. 

Those under the age of 22 years old living in Scotland can apply for a free Young Persons nation-wide bus travel card.  

Google Maps is the recommended platform to use for following directions to campus.

If travelling from the north side of Glenrothes, follow the A92 to Western Avenue/B969 and at the roundabout take the first exit onto Leslie Road/A911, then take the 3^rd exit onto Rothes Road.  At the roundabout, take the 2^nd exit and stay on Rothes Road, at the roundabout, take the 2^nd exit onto Pitteuchar Drive. At the roundabout, take the 3^rd exit onto Beaufort Drive. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto Stenton Road, turn left onto Stenton Road, another left, and Fife College will be on the right. 

If travelling from the south side of Glenrothes, follow the A92 to Kinglassie Road/B921 in Glenrothes. At Bankhead roundabout, take the 2^nd exit onto Kinglassie Road, then at the roundabout take the 3^rd exit ono Pitteuchar Drive. At the roundabout, take the 1^st exit onto Viewfield. Then at the next roundabout, take the 3^rd exit onto Stenton Road. Turn right onto Stenton Road, then left and Fife College will be on the next right.  

If the above transport modes are not feasible, and you do decide to drive to campus, there are 296 car parking spaces, alongside two electric charging points that can be used by the public (currently free of charge).
