Deadline for applications has been extended!

The Flexible Workforce Development Fund allows levy-paying companies (those with an annual salary bill of over £3 million) to claim up to £10,000 towards the training costs of up-skilling and re-skilling their employees.

The deadline for applications to the 2017-18 fund has now been extended so companies can still apply for funding up until the end of June 2018.

(Training must have been booked by the end of June 2018 and have started before September 2018 to be eligible for the 2017/18 fund.)

Who is eligible for the Flexible Workforce Development Fund?

All levy-paying employers in Scotland across the public, private and third sector can apply for this funding, in addition to any apprenticeship they currently receive and Individual Training Accounts (ITAs) used by individual employees to develop their skills for employment.

This fund may be particularly beneficial in addressing skills gaps and training needs of the older workforce or those in low skilled jobs.

Please note - the fund does not support the provision of qualifications or training required by legislation.

How do you apply?

Firstly, we will work with you to identify the training that your company requires to meet the following priorities:

  • increase organisational capacity

  • increase productivity

  • address known skills gaps

This Training Needs Analysis will form the basis of your application.

We will then design a bespoke workforce development programme tailored to your organisation’s specific training requirements, which could be delivered at your premises throughout Scotland if required.

Applications to the 2017-18 Fund must be completed by the end of June 2018. Training must be booked by the end of June 2018 and have started by September 2018 to be eligible.

You can only make one application for funding, up to a maximum of £10,000 in 2017/18.

The fund will be allocated to employers on a first-come first-served basis.
