Fife College's Carnegie Conference Centre has been chosen to host this year's Scottish Student Sports Awards and Conference.

Having been held virtually since the beginning of the pandemic, the event will return to being held in-person at the Dunfermline venue on the 8th and 9th of June this year.

The Scottish Student Sports Awards are the finale to the 2021-22 academic year, and present an opportunity to showcase and celebrate the achievements of student athletes from across the country.

The conference will also provide an opportunity for their members to come together and hear from expert speakers in addition to taking part in several panel discussions and breakout sessions.

Hundreds of students will be invited to attend, with organisers keeping track of the latest Scottish Government guidelines to ensure that the event is held in the safest way possible.

Principal of Fife College, Dr Hugh Hall, said about the announcement:

"We are delighted to have been chosen as host of the Scottish Student Sport conference.

"Fife College and the Fife College Students' Association are committed to transforming lives and creating positive futures for our students, and we well understand the benefits of taking part in physical activity.

"This event will help shape the future of student sport in this country, and we'll be working closely with Scottish Student Sport to make it a success.

"This event, along with the new Dunfermline Learning Campus and continued investment across all of our other campuses, demonstrates our drive towards making Fife College a recognised centre for sporting excellence."

Kirsten Mullen, Sports and Events Coordinator at Fife College Students’ Association, said:

"We're really excited to host the 2022 awards and conference and welcome the Scottish Student Sports network to Fife College.

"This is a great opportunity to encourage and inspire college participation in the student sports sector, and I look forward to working with Scottish Student Sport over the coming months!"
