Jordan Dick (36) recently became the first candidate to successfully complete the process of becoming a Chartered Manager at Fife College’s CMI Charted Manager Assessment Centre.
Jordan, from Dunfermline, successfully completed the CMI Level 8 Diploma in Management and Leadership at the College’s Andrew Carnegie Business School in June this year, before applying to become a Charted Manager.
Fife College is the only college in Scotland that is now a devolved CMI Chartered Manager Assessment Centre.
During the process Jordan, who is Head of Engineering at Edinburgh based tech firm e.fundamentals, provided evidence of how his management practices and the application of the knowledge and experience gained from his diploma had allowed him to make positive differences to his organisation.
He was also able to demonstrate how he worked in an ethical manner aligned to the CMI code of conduct and practice.
Jordan said: “I really enjoyed attending the classes as it allowed me to interact with other students. Sometimes, if I found a concept difficult, going to class and chatting to the other students was helpful. Our tutor was a great help throughout too.”
Jordan, who also previously completed a part-time Business HNC at the College’s Kirkcaldy Campus in 2015, added:
“I’m thankful to e.fundamentals for supporting my studies and allowing me time to work on assignments during work. I feel the course has been helpful and set a good foundation for me to build on going forward.
“I think the CMI would be really beneficial for any new manager to help them understand the skills it takes to not just be a good manager but a good leader too.”
It is estimated that Chartered Managers deliver an average of £362,176 in added value to their organisations, while one in three report a promotion or career progression after they become Chartered.
