Five students have become the latest recipients of the Adam Smith Foundation’s Independent Living scholarships.

The scholarships, which aim to support care experienced young people, were presented to Emma Adams from Dunfermline, Sharon Johnston from Kirkcaldy, Nicole White from Leven and Jeanette Miller and Leanne Clark, both from Lochgelly, at Fife College’s St Brycedale Campus recently.

The scholarships were presented to the students by Bryan McCabe-Bell, Director of Business, Enterprise and Tourism at Fife College and Trust Fundraiser Gaynor Jamieson.

The students plan to use the funds to help pay for materials and equipment to help them with their studies such as laptops, tablets and textbooks.

The Independent Living Scholarship is part of a wide range of scholarships supported by individuals, organisations and the business community, and is administered through the Adam Smith Foundation.

Originally set up in 2010 and funded through the College, the scholarship has been developed in recent years to recognise our commitment to working with young carers and care experienced young people.

Gaynor Jamieson, Trust Fundraiser, said: “The Independent Living Scholarship highlights the College’s commitment to working with young carers and care experienced young people to support them with positive life chances and outcomes.

“We are delighted to award these scholarships to Leanne, Emma, Sharon, Jeanette and Nicole, as they all extremely deserving and inspiring individuals who are hardworking and passionate about their studies. I would like to congratulate them all on their achievements and wish them the very best on their future studies and careers.”

Fife College offers a wide range of scholarships which are open to students throughout the year and supported by the Adam Smith Foundation. For further details visit our scholarship pages or call the College on 0344 2480115.
