Fife College students took part in the launch of Kirkcaldy’s brand-new food market. The initiative, started by local businesswoman, Louise Canny, aims to rejuvenate the dwindling fortunes of the Kirkcaldy High Street by populating it with 15 brightly-coloured market stalls selling things such as coffee, cake, fruit, fresh fish and vegetables, every Friday.
Students from the College’s Intermediate Certificate: Bakery and HNC Patisserie courses set up their own stall, selling a range of things including biscuits, fudge and pies to the many people who turned up to support the great new local enterprise and they will be in Kirkcaldy High Street every Friday until 13 December. The market runs from 9.00am to 5.00pm.
The chance arose for the students to operate their own bakery stall at the Market when Director of Business, Enterprise and Tourism for Fife College, Bryan McCabe-Bell, met the organisers of the event and saw it as a “great opportunity”.
Taking part in such an exciting new project gave our students invaluable experience in real-life application of their skills.
