HND Biomedical Sciences

This course provides you with a great opportunity to develop and apply an integrated understanding of the main areas of Science. Currently there are good job opportunities in the Life Sciences industry and the Health-related industries. Skills acquired on this course such as analysis, problem-solving, ICT and communication are in high demand by a variety of other employers. All of the courses provide a thorough understanding of the principles of Science combined with practical laboratory work and a laboratory-based project which are essential for graduates entering employment.

Duration and Attendance

  • HND -Two Years Full Time (Stenton)
  • HNC - One Year Full-time (Halbeath)

Entry Requirements

  • 1 Higher (Chemistry or Biology)

AND

  • Standard Grade Maths at Grade 2 or above/Intermediate 2 at C or above/National 5 at C or above

AND

  • 3 other Standard Grades at Grade 2 or above/Intermediate 2 at C or above/National 5 at C or above from Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English/Communications

Further Study

Successful completion of the HND Biomedical Science will lead to third year entry into the BSc (Hons) Medical and Molecular Biology degree jointly offered at our Stenton Campus and the University of Abertay Dundee. It may also allow progression on to the second or third year of various Science degrees at other universities. Students who successfully complete year one would qualify for the HNC in Applied Sciences and could seek entry into year 1 or 2 of appropriate degree courses at a number of universities.
