NC Creative Industries: Access to Computer Games, Web Development & Animation SCQF Level 5

SCQF Level 5

This course is an excellent opportunity for school Winter Leavers and returning learners to access the world of Computer Games Development, Computer Animation and Website Design & Development.

It covers a broad range of skills in Computer Programming, Computer Animation and Website Design & Development using technologies such as HTML 5, JavaScript and software from industry giants Adobe and Autodesk.

Upon completion, you will obtain three National Progression Awards (NPAs) from the Scottish Qualifications Agency (SQA) in Computer Games Development, Web Design Fundamentals and Digital Media Animation at SCQF Level 5.

What You Study

You will gain an understanding of the underpinning computer concepts and technologies involved in developing digital content for Computer Gaming, Computer Modelling and Animation and the design and creation of websites.

You will study:

  • Computer Modelling and Animation
  • Computer Scripting and Programming
  • Website Design and Development
  • Project planning and collaborative working
  • Core Skills in Information Technology

Duration and Attendance

One Year Full-time

Entry Requirements

Whilst no formal entry conditions exist, successful applicants should be able to demonstrate a familiarity with Computing, Mathematics, Art, and Craft subjects and would likely have studied these at National 4 or National 5 Level or above. Communication at Level 4 is recommended.

Student Expenses

It will be useful to have a USB storage device with a minimum capacity of 1 Terabyte (TB).

The purchase of some sketch books will be required over the period of the course.
