SCQF Level 4

This course is intended for those interested in pursuing further academic study in a variety of areas. It is a good place to start if you have no qualifications, or if you have very few qualifications, and if you are interested in developing your skills in academic study.

What You Study

Subjects will include:

  • English
  • Maths
  • A social science subject

Duration and Attendance

  • One year full-time.
  • Short full-time (January)

Entry Requirements

This course does not require you to have formal qualifications. However, you will need to be able to demonstrate an interest in learning and an ability to work at SCQF Level 4.

In addition, internal applicants will also require a positive Internal Learner Reference (ILR).

Career Opportunities

This course is intended mainly to help you to develop your existing qualifications to enter other courses. However, most employers are looking for staff who have good English and Maths skills. You may be able to apply for jobs where a good basic education is required.

As well as meeting the appropriate entry requirements, selection on to this course will be based on criteria outlined in Fife College’s admissions procedure, which may include a personal statement, an interview and a satisfactory reference or Transition Form.
