This short full-time course focuses on Core Skills, fitness and transferable skills. It is an introductory award which will encourage all-round personal development, enabling you to make an informed decision about a future in the Army without any obligation to enlist.

Duration and Attendance
18 Weeks Full-time (September - January and February - June).
This course is an SQA Group Award and as such is open to all candidates who have a reasonable chance of achievement. However, all applicants will be required to attend a selection interview where their suitability for the course will be assessed.
Army Preparation is primarily designed for those candidates interested in entering a career with the Army or other public services. However, the course includes Core Skills and transferable skills which would be suitable for a wide variety of employment opportunities.
Sport and Fitness related kit is required to take part in practical activities, such as trainers, tracksuit bottoms, training tops and shorts. You will also take part in outdoor activities, however the College will provide some of the essential kit required. There is no requirement for additional kit to be bought for outdoor activities.
Interview and group Information Session. You will also be required to take part in a practical session consisting of a timed run.
