C&G 2339-44 Certificate Wind Turbine Technician

"Before starting the course I had tried various jobs here and there but none of them were right for me. I was looking for something more involved and hands-on, maybe something that could lead to a bit of travelling. The Wind Turbine course was really ideal for me.

"I’ve enjoyed the course a lot – it’s everything I was hoping for. There’s been maybe a little more theoretical work than I was expecting, but it’s still been enjoyable and it helps make the practical parts even better. I feel that I now have a good base of skills in electrical, fibre optics, wiring, mechanical and hydraulics.

"I’m keeping my options open for after I’ve completed the course. I could progress on to HNC Electrical Engineering but I’m also looking for employment opportunities.

"My goal is to be a wind turbine technician, but any position in engineering would be rewarding and something I’d really enjoy doing.

"One aspect of the course that came as a surprise for me was the various training courses that were incorporated within it. We were put through things like working at heights and rescue from heights, all certified courses that allow us to get on sites. This is a great bonus as part of the course and could be a huge benefit when looking for and entering employment.

"I would highly recommend the course to anyone, really. I really enjoyed it and the facilities in the Whitlock Collaboration Centre in the Rosyth Campus are great and added to my experience on it."
