Are you studying History within your course this year? If so, you are eligible to apply for a James McEwan Scholarship.

This unique scholarship was set up by a former member of our College staff, who is passionate about history, to recognise the memory of her Great Great Uncle, James Stewart.

James was self educated and was a sub-editor of the Fifeshire Advertiser in Kirkcaldy in the 1800s.

Two scholarships are available worth £150 each. Applying is easy - see the links below for further details.

The two winning students last year were Mair Davies, from Glenrothes, and Ali Morrison from Thornton. Both studied Swap Access to Humanities.

Mair said: “I joined this course after retiring from psychiatric nursing -  I needed to exercise my brain! The subjects on the course were really interesting and I was particularly keen on learning some Scottish history.

“I was surprised to win the scholarship but very pleased – I hope to go on to Dundee University and so the scholarship will come in very useful to buy books and a Kindle.”
