Fife College offers a wide range of benefits for staff some of which are detailed below.

Enhanced Annual Leave Entitlement

The College offers an enhanced annual leave entitlement for all individuals including;

46 Days annual leave entitlement which is inclusive of 11 fixed days for Christmas closure and the first Monday in May for our Professional Services and Management Staff.

62 Days annual leave entitlement which is inclusive of 11 fixed days for Christmas closure and the first Monday in May for Lecturing Staff.

60 Days annual leave entitlement which is inclusive of 11 fixed days for Christmas closure and the first Monday in May for Curriculum Managers.

For part-time staff the annual leave entitlement will be calculated on a pro-rata basis and are entitled to the fixed holidays if this is part of their normal work pattern.

Our annual leave year runs from 1 September to 31 August each year.

Pension Scheme

Fife College recognises two pension schemes:

Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS)

The Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) in Scotland is a funded, defined benefit, statutory occupational pension scheme and is one of the main public service pension schemes in Scotland.  

There is a 5 tier contribution system with your contributions based on how much pensionable salary falls into each tier as well as your contribution to the scheme the College contributes a percentage to this as well.

The benefits of the scheme include a pension when you retire as well as immediate life cover and ill-health protection in addition there are also benefits for your next of kin with pensions for dependents if you die.

Scottish Public Pensions Agency (SPPA)

The STSS not only provides you with a lump sum choice and regular income after you retire but may also provide your family or other dependants with financial protection after you die.

As a member of the STSS individuals will pay a percentage of their salary towards a package of benefits including pension, lump sum, death in service lump sum and dependants’ Pension on death.

Child Care Voucher Scheme

Childcare vouchers are a government initiative to help working parents pay for registered childcare. The vouchers are taken from your salary before your Tax and National Insurance (NI) deductions, so you could save over £900 a year.

Once you’ve set up a voucher account, we will order your childcare vouchers through payroll each month and you will receive these vouchers on the same day you receive your pay.

Cycle to Work Scheme

Open to staff twice a year. The cycle to work scheme is a government approved scheme that allows you to hire a bike and safety equipment for the purpose of commuting to and from work and for use at weekends and evenings. The bike you hire will be provided at up to 32% less than the usual cost you would pay which can result in savings of up to £320.

Fife Sport and Leisure Corporate Membership

Corporate Leisure Active membership offers a whole range of packages that will allow you to benefit from unlimited access to swimming pools, health suites, gyms and fitness classes at 12 conveniently located leisure centres across Fife. You could have an early morning swim at a centre near your home, and then visit a gym near your base location in your lunch break. An active healthy lifestyle is good for you in so many ways and whether you are a regular at the gym or new to maintaining your health and fitness Fife Sport and Leisure has a membership to suit you.

Flexible Working

Work plays a huge part in all our lives and it has become increasingly difficult to separate work from our personal lives. It is no easy task to achieve a work life balance with improvements to technology and social media it has now become common place to check e-mails at all hours.
