“Previously, I was a mental health nurse, but I was looking for something that allowed me to use my creative side. The career change into hairdressing has been frightening but exhilarating. It’s a new challenge, but it has given me a great industry to work in.
"Initially, I tried the Introduction to Hair and Beauty and found that I loved it. I then moved on to complete my NC in Hairdressing. I really enjoyed the challenge. Every day was different, which gave me the opportunity to show what I was able to do.
"I love learning new things and in this industry it comes in droves. I like to challenge myself and remain current in trends. This is why I moved onto my HNC Hairdressing.
"I enjoyed every aspect of this and graduated in September 2018.
"During my studies, I was named as a Stylesign winner with Goldwell UK in 2016 and a winner of Indola Exclusively Professional in 2018.
"Since opening my salon in Cowdenbeath High Street, I have become a finalist in the Scottish Retail Business Awards and was a finalist for Best New Micro Business through Business Gateway.
"My salon is growing and I know have a beauty therapist/nail technician and assistants.
"I have had a very rewarding journey. The future looks bright and I am working towards it, armed with the knowledge and the tools I was equipped with through the excellent tutorage and support Fife College provides."
