“When I first came to the College, it was actually to study computing. I started at SCQF Level 4 and then went on to level 5, but by then it was clear that it wasn’t for me. I then switched on to one of the short courses running in January/February, Certificate: Sport and Fitness. I chose this as sport and fitness was my only other real interest at the time.
“Once I was on that first course, I knew that sport and fitness was for me. After completing it, the lecturers helped me to progress straight on to Advanced Certificate: Sport and Fitness.
“This is a really good course. I’m learning so much without feeling that I’m overwhelmed by the work. I’m even learning things that I have been able to incorporate into my own personal fitness regime.
“I’ve always been interested in sport. Growing up I enjoyed PE at school and played sports here and there. This course came along at the right time and I’m able to study it as well as use it in my own life.
“My favourite part is probably testing out the new routines or classes. I like to be able to try them myself and being able to test myself physically. Having said that, I do like the theory side of it as well.
“I have a conditional offer for HNC: Fitness, Health and Exercise for next year if I complete the Advanced Certificate, so if all goes well that’s what I’ll be doing next. I’ve already learned so much and there are so many different avenues you can go down within sport and fitness, I’m just not sure which one is for me yet.”
