I’m Emily Parkin. I’m from Dundee and I’m studying National Certificate: Jewellery at Fife College.
I’d been thinking about going to college for a few years and I saw the jewellery course. I’ve always been interested in making jewellery and I do quite a lot of fimo jewellery, so I thought I would email the college and I got an interview and that was it...I started college!
I’ve got a place to study my HNC next year and then I plan to do my HND. I’m not sure what I’ll do after that, but I’ll maybe start my own business or go to university.
The course is brilliant. The lecturers are really good, really supportive. Everybody in the class is brilliant as well. Everyone has their own unique ideas. Just seeing everybody working together in the workshop is amazing. It’s great seeing everyone’s ideas coming together. It’s a really good environment to work in.
Emily was awarded ‘Highly commended - First year student’ at the 2023 GemSet competition against strong competition from other Scottish college and university students.
