“I have moved home several times and love decorating. When I was younger my parents took us to different castles at the weekends and I just loved all the different architecture and interiors.
“I was doing care work previously but the lady I cared for sadly passed away; she always encouraged me to be doing more so after she died, I thought about what my passions were and decided to re-train at something I loved.
"Originally I had thought about painting and decorating but when I looked at the courses available online I saw HNC: 3D Interior Design and thought that would be perfect.
“I really enjoyed the course. As a mature student it was difficult at times to balance the workload with family time but I really liked the variety of projects that we covered.
"To be honest, I thought before starting that it would be mainly residential interiors we would be doing, so I really liked that there were other elements that pushed me out of my comfort zone.

“After completing the HNC I did a placement at Brand-Rex in Glenrothes and redesigned all the staff canteens. I am now studying for my BA (Hons) Interior Design degree at Heriot-Watt University.
"I would never have even thought about applying to university if it hadn’t been encouraged by my tutors at Fife College.
“I’m now working to finish my degree with the highest pass I can achieve and either find a job with an established interior/architecture firm or start my own interior design business.”
