Health, Safety and Risk Assessments

The College has robust health and safety procedures in place throughout its operational areas, including risk assessment procedures. You will be made aware of these as part of your induction.

If you have additional support needs or a disability, an individual risk assessment will be carried out and any reasonable adjustments for specific arrangements and/or resources identified will be put in place to enable safe participation in your course.

The College and FCSA are committed to promoting and ensuring the health and wellbeing of students, staff and visitors at Fife College.

As part of that commitment and in line with the Scottish Government’s Charter for a Tobacco-free generation targets, the College has introduced a Clean Air Policy on all of our campuses, with smoking and vaping being encouraged in designated areas only.

“Almost nobody starts smoking after the age of 25, so decisions and behaviours during the 16-24 age range have a huge impact on a young person’s life outcomes. The college or university experience is central to this.”

ASH Scotland

As an organisation we feel strongly about our responsibility to provide a healthy learning and working environment for students and staff, but to help us achieve our smoke free goal we need your help!

Both staff and students have an important role to play – by working together we can spread the word and promote the benefits of the college becoming a smoke free.

By sharing information on where the designated smoking zones are and encouraging staff and students to use them we can avoid campus entrances becoming congested and smoke filled. If you see students or staff smoking out with these areas please let them know about the zones.

The College is committed to supporting staff and students who wish to stop smoking. Support will be available through partnership with NHS Fife. If you are interested in stopping please register your interest through the Health and Safety team, healthandsafety@fife.ac.uk
