COURSE INFORMATION

This is a supported progression course for young people who are interested in a career in construction. On successful completion, this course will enable you to progress on to an SCQF Level 4 course in this curriculum area.

The skills that will be developed during this course will help the candidate to achieve employment within the construction industry.

  • One year full-time
  • 26 hours per week

A range of personal development units, including:

  • Practical abilities; self and work; self-awareness
  • Developing skills for employment
  • The Core Skills of ICT, numeracy and communication will be developed and certificated on this course

A range of built environment subjects including:

  • Painting and decorating
  • Carpentry and joinery
  • General building
  • Brickwork
  • Successful completion of a School Transition Form
  • You may be required to take part in an informal conversation as part of the application process. This group/individual conversation may be an information session, a portfolio discussion, or a skills based exercise
  • Possible progression to mainstream courses at SCQF Level 4

Employment within a wide range of builenvironment jobs such as painting and decorating, carpentry and joinery, plumbing, and brickwork
