COURSE INFORMATION

This course is intended for you if you are interested in pursuing further academic study in a variety of areas. It is a good place to start if you have no qualifications, or if you have very few qualifications, and you are interested in developing your skills in academic study.

Subjects will include:

  • English
  • Maths (September start courses only)
  • A social science subject
  • This course does not require you to have formal qualifications. However, you will need to be able to demonstrate an interest in learning and an ability to work at SCQF Level 4
  • Intermediate Certificate: Pathway to HNC/D and Degree
  • Intermediate Certificate: Pathway to Social Sciences
  • Other SCQF Level 5 courses in a range of areas, including engineering, care, creative industries, and much more
  • This course is intended mainly to help you to develop your existing qualifications to enter other courses
  • However, most employers are looking for staff who have good English and Maths skills
  • You may be able to apply for jobs where a good basic education is required
  • You may need to buy one or more textbooks – approximately £10-£20
  • You may be required to take part in an informal conversation as part of the application process. This group/individual conversation may be an information session, a portfolio discussion, or a skills based exercise
  • After applying, you will be sent a link to an online form. When completing this, please explain your reasons for your course choice, so that we can ensure you have applied to a course which will best meet your needs.
