COURSE INFORMATION

Do you have a flair for art and design? Interested in digital graphics or promotion/marketing/displays/marketing?

Graphic Designers and Visual Communicators work creatively to design products or content that carries a message to others. Social media, digital advertising, posters, calendars, packaging, T-Shirts, mugs and coasters are just some of outputs that need a good graphic design.

Bands promoting their new music, manufacturers promoting their new product range, entrepreneurs promoting their products or talent and skills all need a Graphic Designer who is a problem solver with a creative flair for colour, shape, typography and textures to help with the branding and imaging.

 

 

You will work on a range of challenging project briefs from packaging, corporate identity, illustration, posters and magazine design to designing for digital and new media, creativity, design, attention to detail, imagination and curiosity are essential skills that you will develop to help get the meaning of the message across to the viewer/ consumer.

You will undertake a group of projects designed to develop your individual, practical and team working skills while working to client briefs. Potential projects include working with commercial clients, schools, community partnerships, and more. From Community and Consumer to Local/ National businesses, Health and Wellbeing, Magazine Articles and Posters, Social Media, Digital Signage to 48 Sheet Posters, Local Bands to National Theatre Companies and more.

A portfolio showing creativity e.g. graphic designs, photography and/ or Art & Design etc. plus one of the following:

  • One Higher at Grade C or above with English National 5 at Grade C minimum
  • National Certificate: Photography SCQF Level 6
  • National Certificate: Art and Design SCQF Level 6

Mature students will be considered on an individual basis based on a portfolio of art and design work in their field of study and experience
