COURSE INFORMATION

The video games industry is worth more than Hollywood and the music industries combined, and is only growing bigger. With massive studios like Rockstar located right next door in Edinburgh, there are tons of opportunities within this industry for newly trained creative professionals in Scotland. From coming up with game ideas, to creating artwork, to programming, and now with the exciting new realm of professional esports, the games industry is a diverse and exciting place to pursue a career.

This course will give you a broad introduction to all aspects of the games industry. You will start with playing and analysing existing games and participating in esports events, including the creation of your own esports team and branding. You will come up with your own game ideas and pitch those ideas to others. You will create art and animations for games in both 2D and 3D. Finally, you will learn the basics of programming and use this to take your game from concept to reality, including learning proper game testing techniques. By the end of the course you will have created your own video game from start to finish, experienced a sample of everything the industry has to offer, and will be prepared for the next step of your journey into your video game career.
