COURSE INFORMATION

The construction industry is estimated to grow exponentially in Scotland over the next 5 years. Architecture and Interior Design is the human face of this industry. We consider the needs of the people who will visit and live in the homes, bars, restaurants, hospitals and schools currently being constructed across the country. Our NC Architecture and Interior Design course at Fife College will give you the opportunity to work across a number of innovative design briefs across the year to develop the skills required to succeed in a career in this industry.

You will develop freehand and technical drawing skills including an introduction to computer aided design (CAD) software and photoshop. You will also develop presentation skills for the projects you produce. At the end of the course you will be able to present a varied and creative portfolio of project work to enable application to a higher level of study or employment.

You will be encouraged to explore the technical aspects of design such as architectural drafting, 3D visualisation, material specification and sustainability on this course, while also developing core skills such as critical thinking, problem solving and self-reflection.

The NC Architecture and Interior Design is the perfect introduction to the world of design and we work closely with university partners to ensure that successful completion of our course will ensure you are well prepared for further study in this field.
 

One of the following:

  • Two National 5s at Grade B or above in subjects including at least one of the following: Art & Design, Design and Manufacture, Graphic Communication, or English
  • A relevant qualification at SCQF Level 5
  • Relevant industry experience and other qualifications will be considered on an individual basis based on portfolio
  • HNC 3D Design SCQF Level 7
  • HND 3D Design SCQF Level 8

  • You may be required to take part in an informal conversation as part of the application process. This group/individual conversation may be an information session, a portfolio discussion, or a skills based exercise.
