COURSE INFORMATION

This is a practical design course which aims to introduce you to the essential key skills required to begin a career in the design industry. You will be encouraged to develop imaginative and creative ideas while working on a series of design projects. You will learn how to research and source relevant information for interior design materials, finishes, and products.

There will be a strong emphasis on developing a wide range of drawing and model making skills and techniques. During the course you will carry out a variety of design projects related to architecture, interior 3D spaces and scenarios.

You will develop freehand and technical drawing skills including an introduction to computer aided design (CAD) software and photoshop. You will also develop presentation skills for the projects you produce. At the end of the course you will be able to present a varied and creative portfolio of project work to enable application to a higher level of study or employment.

PLUS one of the following:

  • One or more of the following: English, History, Modern Studies, and/or Maths or Science subjects
  • A relevant Art and Design achievement at SCQF Level 4 or 5
  • Relevant industry experience and/or other qualifications will be considered on an individual basis
  • HND: 3D Interior Design SCQF Level 8
  • Interior design trainee within an architect firm
  • Space planning assistant

  • You may be required to take part in an informal conversation as part of the application process. This group/individual conversation may be an information session, a portfolio discussion, or a skills based exercise
