This course will provide a broad introduction to photography, enabling you to acquire the technical and creative skills needed to become a professional photographer. The course is ideal for anyone who would like to improve their basic photographic skills. It prepares you for progression to an HND through the development of both a print and electronic portfolio.

A strong portfolio of work containing a minimum of 20 images from a range of subjects plus one of the following:

  • Two National 5s at Grade C or above including English and a creative subject
  • A relevant creative course at SCQF Level 5
  • Mature students will be considered on an individual basis based on a portfolio of photography and or design work
  • HNC: Photography SCQF Level 7

  • You may be required to take part in an informal conversation as part of the application process. This group/individual conversation may be an information session, a portfolio discussion, or a skills based exercise

  • If you don’t have a suitable portfolio we will set you a small Photography Assignment before making a decision
