COURSE INFORMATION

This course will give you an overview of the competitive gaming eSports industry. You learn about the structure of the esports industry, including the history of eSports, the types of jobs available, and the various pathways into the industry. You will learn about key factors in improving game performance, teamwork, and communication. Finally, you’ll learn to organise & promote esports events. Wherever possible, your lecturers will use projects simulating the real world eSports industry for your learning and assessment. Your assessments will be a combination of closed book tests, open book tests, reports, and project-based work. This course will be ideal for candidates interested in pursuing a career in the eSports industry, or who simply want to learn more about eSports and the world of competitive gaming.

  • Whilst no formal entry conditions exist, you should be able to demonstrate a familiarity with digital subjects and would likely be studying at National 4 Level or above. In particular, in order to complete the written work associated with the course, you should have a minimum of National 3 English or Communication.

  • Intermediate Certificate: Computer Games Design and Animation (with eSports) SCQF Level 5.
