COURSE INFORMATION

This is a varied course in electrical engineering, mostly consisting of academic study with some practical work and the use of simulation software. It provides you with a blend of learning which can lead to engineering job opportunities within large and small companies across a wide range of sectors, including electrical service companies, oil and gas, renewable energy, and power companies.

  • Electrical principles
  • Electrical measurement and testing
  • Circuit element principles
  • Single phase and three phase principles
  • Fundamental electrical systems
  • Electrostatics and electromagnetics
  • The Core Skills of ICT, numeracy and communication will be developed and certificated on this course
  • Part-time – two days per week day release (employer or self-funded)

Employment within Industry and one of the following:

  • Three National 5s at Level C or above or equivalent (see our Qualifications Explained page for details) which must include Maths, and Physics or a Technology subject
  • A minimum of five Standard Grades or their equivalents, with three at Intermediate 2 or above, including Maths, English and one Science/technology subject
  • Successful completion of a relevant Engineering NC Level 5 Group Award including Maths: Craft 1 and 2
  • Industrial experience and/or other qualification will also be considered

In addition, internal applicants will also require a positive Internal Learner Reference (ILR).
