COURSE INFORMATION

You will build knowledge and skills required to work within the NHS and Social Care Sector Roles, through a challenge based learning approach. You will explore specified themes and completed a related work based challenge. 

Through the course of completing a work based challenge, you will develop meta-skills which can be transferred to a wide range of employment opportunities and enhance career progression. You are expected to take the lead in your learning by exploring themes, deciding on activities they would like to undertake to develop your understanding and increase your knowledge. 
Through developing your own learning journey, problem solving and trying new things along the way, you will prepare yourself to complete the work based challenge and present your solutions.

  1. 1 year part-time - online delivery as part of school timetable on two afternoons per-week.

Roles and Exploration: You will undertake an investigation into the patient and service user journey with a focus on unique ways in which health and social care services interact.

Relationships and Equality: You will also undertake an investigation into the current health inequalities in your local and regional area before creating a plan for addressing some of these issues. 
People and Places: You will identify potential environmental barriers and produce a plan to overcome these barriers, aimed at improving accessibility to patients and service users.  
  • Good attendance.
  • A general desire to explore opportunities for careers within the Healthcare.
  • You should be working at SCQF level 5 in other school subjects.
  • Advanced Certificate: Health and Social Care (Access to Nursing and Care HNCs).
  • Advanced Certificate: Social Services and Healthcare (Incl. SVQ2).
  • Support worker roles in heath and social care.
  • Various jobs in the care and social care areas (after further study).
  • Attend an interview and undertake a written exercise.
  • Provide a personal statement submitted along with application form that details interest in working in healthcare and/or social care.
  • Reference from Guidance Teacher.
