COURSE INFORMATION

This course satisfies the requirements of SQA to achieve the practical element of the course.

  • Laboratory skills in an excellent equipped laboratory 
  • One or two afternoons per week

Your school will choose from the following practicals:

  • Determination of protein concentration using the Bradford Assay
  • Protein electrophoresis using SDS-Page
  • Total cell count of yeast cells in culture using serial dilution and the haemocytometer
  • Effect of relative humidity on the development of botrytis in soft fruit
  • You must be undertaking Advanced Higher Biology in school
