This qualification is aimed at practising or aspiring managers will supervise or manage a team to achieve clearly defined outcomes. You will set and monitor goals and objectives by providing instruction, direction and guidance.

The qualifications have been designed for practising or aspiring managers in roles such as:

  • CMI Level 3 in Principles of Management and Leadership can be achieved within 12 weeks and is delivered using an approach of blended learning encompassing virtual / interactive delivery and support.

  • Workshops are hosted on MS Teams every Tuesday evening between 18:00 - 19:00.

Principles of Management and Leadership

  • Being equipped with the knowledge, skills and behaviours to manage and lead effectively is essential if an individual and their organisation are to succeed. This unit has been designed to develop or sharpen your professional edge and enhance personal effectiveness. The unit focuses on the ways organisations operate, the application of management and leadership approaches and how these can positively impact on your own role, lead to improved performance, and support teams, colleagues and customers.

Managing a Team to Achieve Results

  • The ability to manage teams, which are able to communicate effectively and overcome barriers to achievement, is a critical skill for any manager. High performing cohesive teams are created in an environment where there is a collective understanding of values, goals and objectives. This unit has been developed to support managers in understanding the nature of teams in the workplace, and how these can be managed to achieve results.

These qualifications can be offered to Learners from age 16. CMI does not specify entry requirements for these qualifications, but we are required to ensure that Learners admitted to the programme have sufficient capability at the right level to undertake the learning and assessment.

As a CMI Centre, we must ensure Learners are recruited with integrity onto appropriate qualifications that will:

  • meet their needs
  • enable and facilitate learning and achievement
  • enable progression

In order to achieve this, we will need to:

  • Provide relevant programme information, guidance and advice, to enable informed Learner choice
  • Publish entry and selection criteria
  • Demonstrate that Learners are recruited with integrity
  • Carry out comprehensive Learner induction that:
    • addresses programme and organisational requirements
    • explains Learner facilities
    • identifies Learners’ development needs
    • develops an Individual Learning Plan

The qualification is offered in the medium of the English Language.

  • Upon successful completion of their qualification, learners are able to progress to further their ongoing personal and professional development by accessing learning within the suite of CMI Management and Leadership qualifications, such as the CMI Level 5 Qualifications in Management and Leadership with the goal of becoming a Chartered Manager.

Learners who are aspiring to a management role may progress to the job roles such as:
