Learn how to build and set up a computer and connect it securely to a network, your first step to an IT career. This course provides you with a recognised computer technician certificate from Cisco – the world leader in computer networking.

You will also gain the entry requirements for our full-time HNC computing courses.

  • H17F34 Computing: PC hardware and operating systems support (SCQF Level 7)
  • Cisco IT essentials (vendor certificate)
  • You are expected to have a basic understanding of and interest in computer hardware and software
  • HNC: Computing: Networking SCQF Level 7
  • HNC: Computing: Technical Support SCQF Level 7

  • CompTIA qualifications
  • HNC: Cybersecurity SCQF Level 7

  • You must have access to an internet-connected computer at home
  • You may be required to take part in an informal conversation as part of the application process. This group/individual conversation may be an information session, a portfolio discussion, or a skills based exercise
