COURSE INFORMATION

This course is designed to advance your existing qualifications as a nail technician and allow you to learn exciting new techniques such as sculpting, air brushing, and 3D nail art, enabling you to expand your creativity, use your imagination, and demonstrate your artistic abilities.

You will also learn about business, finance, and promotional activities making this course ideal for those who wish to pursue self-employment or a management role.

Please note: the mode of study may include twilight/evening sessions. Draft timetables will be issued prior to the courses commencing where possible.

  • Enhance and maintain nails using UV gel
  • Enhance and maintain nails using liquid and powder
  • Plan and provide airbrush designs for nails
  • Plan and create nail art design
  • Design a range of creative nail images
  • Prepare and finish nail overlays using electric files
  • Monitor procedures to safely control work operations
  • Contribute to the financial effectiveness of the business
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities
  • You must be a minimum of 16 years of age at the start of your course
  • You must have manual dexterity, a pleasant manner, and a keen interest in the nail services industry
  • You may be required to take part in an informal conversation as part of the application process. This group/individual conversation may be an information session, a portfolio discussion, or a skills based exercise

PLUS one of the following:

  • NVQ Diploma: Nail Services VTCT Level 2
  • Equivalent industry-recognised nail technician qualification at SCQF Level 5
  • Continuing professional development courses in advanced/specialist nail technician or other techniques
  • Self-employment as a specialist nail technician
  • Employment/management within a specialist nail salon
  • A specialist kit is required for this course – approx. £230
  • It is essential that you have this kit prior to the start of the course
  • You may be required to pay for or contribute toward the cost of this kit. This will be advised at your information session
  • You will require a basic nail technician kit (it is anticipated that you will already have this)
  • Uniform – approx. £45
  • Textbook – approx. £20
  • Locker deposit – £10 (where appropriate)
  • You may be required to take part in an informal conversation as part of the application process. This group/individual conversation may be an information session, a portfolio discussion, or a skills based exercise
  • A personal statement with your application form is desirable
