This course is aimed at those who are responsible for the care of clients in the setting. You may also be in charge of care plans and some support staff.

  • You will learn how to become a reflective practitioner 
  • You must be currently employed as a Support Worker in an early learning or childcare setting ND Hve the support of your manager. 
  • Four National 5 qualifications including English at C or above or equivalent. 
  • SVQ: Social Services Children and Young People SCQF Level 7 
  • HNC: Additional Support Needs: Supporting the Individual SCQF Level 7 
  • HNC: Childhood Practice SCQF Level 7 
  • This SVQ is accepted for registration with the SSSC at Support worker level and will help career enhancement and progression.
  • Stationery approximate cost: £10
  • Attend an interview and undertake a written exercise 
  • Provide a personal statement submitted along with application form 
  • You will also require a PVG check through Disclosure Scotland in order to go out on the placement(s) as part of this course (visit disclosurescotland.co.uk for more information).
