So you're getting ready to join us and are wondering what you need to do to prepare? Don't worry, we have pulled together some information for you on all the things you need to do and know before you start your course with us.
Once you have accepted your unconditional offer, it is important that you enrol for your course and create your Student account.
After you enrol, we will then be able to send you lots of other information about your course and make sure you are added to the class lists to receive information from your lecturer.
You will also need to upload a photo. Make sure this is taken against a blank background and clearly shows your face, similar to a passport photo.
Enrolment can be done online and a link will have been sent to you by email. If you would rather enrol by phone, or did not receive your enrolment email, contact our Customer Services Team on or by calling 03442480115
Each of our courses have a cost against them, known as a course fee. It is important that you complete your funding application so that you receive funds to cover the cost of your course. You may also be entitled to additional financial support to cover things such as childcare and living costs.
Your online funding application form will be sent to you by email. You can also access your form by logging in to your Student Portal.
You'll find out more information on our Student Funds page, or if you would like to speak to a member of our Student Funds Team about your application, you can contact them on
Timetables have been uploaded to the Student Portal so you should now be able to access these.
Most of our classes will be delivered online in the first semester so please make sure you know whether you will be taught online, or if you are to come to campus. Your timetable is colour coded to help you with this. Blue means your class is on campus, and orange means your class is online.
Online classes will be delivered on Microsoft Teams so it is a good idea to take some time to familiarise yourself with the system. We have produced guides to getting online which include some demos.
Getting Ready for College FAQs
Keep an eye out for emails from the College, and your course team, which will provide more information on details specific to your course. These include information on how to enrol for your course online, how to apply for funding and how to let us know if you require any learning support. Please also continue to check the College's social media channels to find out more about how we're preparing to virtually welcome our new and returning students to College.
This year, funding applications are made online. An online form will have been sent to you by email, or you can find this on the Student Portal.
If you have not yet uploaded a photo, when you access the Student Portal, you will see the button to upload your photo to complete your enrolment. This will also give you the option to select if you wish to order a Student Card (NEC Card).
Once you are added to your course on teams, you will see the 'induction' channel on teams. Here you will find resources and live recordings of your course induction schedule (where possible). You can also contact your lecturer to find out what you missed and catch up on key information.
The Student Funding Team will aim to have processed your funding form and be able to let you know the outcome within 28 days of you submitting this. This is often not possible during busy periods such as August and September, however the team will do their best to meet this deadline.
The team are working through funding applications as quickly as possible. Please check that we haven't asked you for additional information, as we often have to request some further details before we can process your application which can cause a delay.
If you are feeling worried and would like to talk, please remember our guidance team are here for you. You can contact them on email@example.com
Every case is different which is why your friend may have had their funding approved while you are still waiting. Check we haven't asked you for any additional documentation as this can often delay a funding application.
If you are feeling worried about your funding and would like to talk, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
This is a very busy time for the Student Funding Team and although they are working through emails as quickly as possible, their can often be a delay in you getting a response. We would ask you to be patient and not to send multiple emails for the same query, this will help us to work through the inbox more quickly and efficiently.
