Fife College Students Association (FCSA) and Fife College have participated in the awards since 2014-15, achieving a two star award in 14-15, followed by three star awards in 15-16 and 16-17.
The most recent year, 2017-18, we achieved a prestigious 4 Star award as we have improved our processes and structure as a result of feedback from our students and our previous submissions.
Fife College Students Association and Fife College are committed to helping improve the Health and Wellbeing of our students and as the only college that spans over the whole region of Fife, with five main campuses and a student body or approximately 23,000 students a year this is not a responsibility we take lightly.
We believe education is a transformative experience a path that our students take to change their lives; that education is not only about the academic value but the student as a whole. A persons health and wellbeing is strongly impacted whilst studying and we want to help our students to improve their level of wellbeing during their time with us and in their next steps. We understand the pressures of studying are prominent issues and possibly barriers to achieving their goals.
We are keen to build on the work we have already done, with more awareness raising events and opportunities, increasing student engagement in voluntary opportunities to improve their wellbeing and leading by example as our staff and sabbaticals endorse and promote healthy living.
Our participation with the HBHM Award highlights our commitment to promote and improve the health and wellbeing of our students. The feedback will allow us to set specific aims and measurable objectives, and highlight the value of the work we are doing and constantly improve it.
This scheme also enables us to strengthen relationships, within Fife College and with external organisations. This collaborative approach benefits everyone involved, increasing opportunities, and providing us all with a wider range of knowledge, resources, and innovations.
