HNC Business with Digital Marketing

The HNC is designed for people who want to develop skills for and gain an understanding of the fascinating and complex world of Business with a specialism in Digital Marketing.The HNC introduces the key functions in a business organisation (eg management, economics, marketing, accounting, communication and the ability to manage change driven by emerging technologies and changes in the internal and external environments). The HNC also develops human cognitive and transferable skills that are key for success in the business environment.

What will I study?

The HNC includes mandatory and optional units of study. The optional units that you will study have been selected to provide a wide range of business awareness from understanding the different functions in a business, to the specialist area of Human Resource Management. Additionally, subjects such as Digital Marketing Communications: Website Tools and Techniques, Digital Marketing Communications: Content Development, Contemporary Marketing Issues, and Principles and Practices of Selling will provide you with the skills to understand the role of personal selling in different types of organisations, business to business and business to customer and provide overview of the digital marketing sector and the key digital platforms used for corporate communication. This unit is intended to develop the knowledge and digital skills of learners keen to take up an entry level Marketing, Advertising and/or PR role.

  • Graded Unit – which is an opportunity for you to demonstrate your understanding of how the different subjects are integrated.
You will study different topics that cover all aspects of business from managing people, economics and marketing, to accounting and digital marketing - content creation for a business. All subjects require you to think about theory but also will require you to consider how you put that theory into practice in real world and case study situations.You will analyse different situations which businesses could face, using information from the external business environment such as market forces and competition and from the internal business environment such as financial information and performance data.The course is delivered using a blended approach, where you will learn through a combination of time with a tutor and your class colleagues, as well as working on independent learning activities. The course will be assessed through a blend of assignments and project work.

What further study options are available?

Direct entry into year 2 (HND) requires the full, successful completion of the related HNC with 15 SQA credits.
