This course focuses on the systematic study of human behaviour and social structures, exploring how individuals and communities shape and are shaped by the world around them. You’ll examine real-world issues through the lens of Sociology, Psychology, History, Criminology, and Research Methods, while gaining confidence to progress to university or into the workplace.

Who is this course for?

This course is designed for students who have: Successfully completed the HNC Social Sciences (15-credit award). All HNC units must be completed successfully An interest in continuing their academic journey to degree level The motivation to engage with independent research, academic writing, and complex theory

  • Sociology – understanding social structures, inequality, and global change
  • Psychology – examining human thought, emotion, and behaviour
  • History – exploring past events and their continuing influence on society
  • Philosophy – explore fundamental philosophical questions about knowledge, reality, and morality
  • Research Methodology and Research Issues – designing, conducting, and evaluating social research
  • Graded Unit Exams and Project – applying your knowledge and research skills in a major investigative project
