SVQ: Learning and Development SCQF Level 8

You will complete this qualification in your own workplace. The course runs continuously with flexible start dates throughout the year. Assessment is based on a portfolio of evidence drawn primarily from your workplace, demonstrating your knowledge and competence. The award is accredited by SQA and based on national standards set by the Employment National Training Organisation. The SVQ framework includes eight mandatory units and four optional units, allowing you to tailor the qualification to your role and organisational needs.

Who is this course for?

This Level 8 SVQ in Learning and Development is designed for those who coordinate and design learning opportunities within an organisation. It is ideal for trainers, facilitators, mentors, tutors, coaches, instructors, or anyone with training responsibilities alongside their main role. At this level, candidates are expected to plan, deliver, and evaluate learning.

You will evidence skills in designing, planning, and evaluating learning programmes, creating a positive learning environment, and managing contributions from others. The qualification also allows you to tailor optional units to reflect your responsibilities, including areas such as coaching and mentoring, ensuring formal recognition of the work you already do.
The SVQ in Learning and Development at SCQF Level 8 consists of eight mandatory units and four optional units tailored to your role.
