Interested in Sound or Music Production and why or how music and sound has an emotional impact on you and others? Whether it's the manipulation of sound for Bands, Solo Artists, Game Sound, Film Sound, Television, Radio, Podcasts, Vlogs, this creative, technical and highly practical course is for you. Delivered in our uniquely designed Recording Architecture studio complex, you will develop the knowledge and skills necessary for working in the sound production industry in a variety of roles or for progressing to a related University course.

Working on a range of projects from week 1 involving audio engineering, music production, sound design for games and film, mixing & remixing using DAWs and instruments to create songs and soundscapes, we’ll support you to acquire work-ready skills. You’ll also develop an understanding of the wider creative industries and how your skills can contribute to the collaborative success of computer games, film and television, music, radio production, and much more.

You will also be able to study for your AVID Pro Tools certification. As well as employment or self-employment you will have the opportunity to progress to University based BA or BSc. Qualifications in creative sound production, sound/ audio engineering, commercial music production and more.

Year 1

One of the following:

  • Two Highers at Grade C or above preferably including English and Music Technology or Music 
  • Foundation Apprenticeship: Creative and Digital Media SCQF Level 6 
  • National Certificate: Sound Production SCQF Level 6
  • National Certificate: Creative Industries SCQF Level 6
  • National Certificate: Music Performance SCQF Level 6
  • Relevant industry experience and/or other qualifications will be considered on an individual basis

Year 2

  • HNC: Sound Production SCQF Level 7
  • Fife College has defined articulation routes in place for this course
  • Entry to year 3 of a related degree is possible at many universities in Scotland and England
