About Carol

Carol Potter has over 30 years’ experience in senior leadership roles across the public sector, primarily within the NHS in Scotland. She has a strong personal and professional connection to Fife, having grown up near Kirkcaldy and both begun and concluded her NHS career with NHS Fife. Carol served as Chief Executive of NHS Fife from 2020, where she led the organisation through significant and sustained challenge, including the COVID-19 pandemic, with a clear emphasis on values-based, kind and compassionate leadership, staff wellbeing and high-quality care.

During her career, Carol has held a range of senior executive and financial leadership roles, including Director of Finance in NHS Fife and senior finance positions in NHS Lothian, NHS Lanarkshire and NHS Forth Valley. She has led major programmes of organisational transformation, strengthened governance and financial stewardship, and championed collaborative working across health, local government and education partners. Carol is a Chartered Public Finance Accountant and a business graduate.

Outside her professional roles, Carol has a strong personal commitment to fitness and wellbeing and is currently studying towards a diploma in personal training, reflecting her belief in lifelong learning and the importance of physical and mental wellbeing.
