A Fife man who has dined weekly at Fife College for nearly four decades has officially opened the College’s new student-run restaurant, The Academy, in Dunfermline.
Robert Wilson (95) has been a regular at the College’s training restaurants since 1986, enjoying weekly lunches with his brother at the former Halbeath campus. His long-standing support was recognised as he cut the ribbon at a ceremony to mark the opening of The Academy at the new Dunfermline City Campus.
Run by Culinary Arts and Hospitality students, The Academy offers a professional, real-world environment where learners can develop the skills they need for a successful career in the industry. The restaurant is modelled on The Academy in Kirkcaldy, which is currently ranked the town’s number one restaurant on TripAdvisor.

Adam Fairweather, Head of School - Business, Digital and Creative, said:
“We're delighted to have The Academy now open at our new Dunfermline City Campus. The restaurant and kitchens give our students real-world experience to help them gain the skills they need for a career in the industry.
"It was a real privilege to have Mr Wilson join us to officially open the new restaurant. We look forward to continuing to welcome him and other local customers through the doors.”
The Academy Dunfermline has already hosted a series of Christmas lunch services and will reopen after the festive break. Lunches will be served on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. A dinner service is also being introduced on Thursday evenings.
