Biography
Celebrity hair stylist Stephen Glendinning will never forget his days as a young hairdressing student at our Kirkcaldy campus, fantastic memories which he says will stay with him forever.
Today he can be found travelling the world demonstrating and training other hairdressers as well as enjoying a varied career working in television as a presenter on programmes such as QVC, Celebrity Scissorhands and Promzillas to name but a few.
After beginning an apprenticeship in Stirling after leaving school Stephen decided to study hairdressing full-time when he moved to live in Windygates, Fife.
"I loved my College days and the scary paternoster lifts at the then Kirkcaldy Technical College in 1989, it was the beginning of my journey and a fantastic start. I’m still in contact with some of the lecturers today as we have a great bond and friendship.
"I was thrilled to win first place in the Scottish hairdressing national competitions twice and won 1st place also for the UK, Fife College had a history of winning and very high standards of training which were well respected in the industry, I will never forget being a part of that."
Moving to London in 1994 and working on fashion session hair jobs opened up a world of celebrity styling to me and I have had the privilege of styling hair for many talented and well know celebrities including Mark Robson, Lesley Manville, Edith Bowman, Frank Lampard, Professor Brian Cox and many more.
"I hope to carry on working and learning in this brilliant industry and hopefully move to Valencia in Spain in the near future, so I’m brushing up on my Spanish so I can work there too.
"To all current and future students, I’d advise that if you stay focused the fundamental training at the college will set you up for life. I still reference what I learned all those years ago and apply it today, hairdressing can open so many options for you the world really is your oyster!"
