Before I worked at Fife College, I trained as an actor and l worked in the industry for around 10 years.

I did pretty much everything from working in theatre, film, TV, radio, even things like medical and corporate role play. One of my career highlights was being on the TV show, River City. These are the skills and experience that I bring to Fife College.

I teach the 'acting for camera' unit in our HNC Acting Performance course, and I also teach the 'voice' unit. This is the first time that Fife College has ever taught 'acting for camera', so I'm really excited to be bringing that to the College and leading on it.

The industry now demands that actors can be trained in theatre, TV and film. I'm really hoping that we can get our students ready to enter the industry with that experience under their belts.

If you're thinking of coming to Fife College to study acting and performance, you can expect to have lots of fun, to work hard. We tend to do quite long days, roughly about 10am and 5pm.

You can expect to get a lot of different experiences from training for theatre, TV, film, radio, doing a bit of movement, voice, devising theatre and physical theatre.

You can also learn skills around facilitation and other areas of the industry that you might want to go into, for example, technical theatre. We're really lucky here that we have an in-house technician, Matt, who teaches tech theatre and is also around to tech all our shows and give the students support in that area as well, which is really cool.

The best thing about working at Fife College is the people. Everyone is friendly. I only started in the summer and I've had the warmest welcome. We have good facilities here. We've got two state-of-the-art theatres in Kirkcaldy and Dunfermline, and particularly in my department, we have access to really great equipment: microphones, lights, and everything that you could need to train to be an actor in film and TV.
