My name is Grzegorz and I study the Geospatial Foundation Skills Course at Fife College.
I’ve always been interested in drones and photography, so when I came across this course on Facebook — especially with its focus on remote sensing with drones — I knew it was the right fit for me. The fact that it was a hybrid course made it even more appealing.
As part of the course, I worked on a project with Network Rail. I really enjoyed meeting GR, the project manager, in person — such a kind and supportive person. My task was to create active and inactive line buffers for Network Rail across Scotland. It was a challenging project, especially within the timeframe we had, but by the end they were very happy with the outcome. That gave me a real sense of achievement.
The course has given me so much more than I expected. I gained knowledge and skills that I hadn’t even thought about before starting, and I now feel I have a strong foundation for entry-level jobs in the industry.
Looking back, I can honestly say this course has prepared me really well for the future. It’s opened my eyes to new opportunities and given me the confidence to take the next step in my career.
