IN 2018, THE SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT COMMITTED TO PROVIDING ACCESS TO FREE SANITARY PRODUCTS FOR STUDENTS IN SCHOOLS, COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES!

Scotland has subsequently become the first UK nation to offer free sanitary products for all, as part of the 2020 Period Products (Free Provision) (Scotland) Bill. The Act is in place to ensure that everyone in Scotland who menstruates can have reasonably convenient access to period products, free of charge, as and when they are required. This includes visitors to Scotland for the duration of their stay.

Fife College is proud to offer a range of free sanitary products for all students. These products are available within our Guidance and Student Association office areas on branded stands that allow freedom of choice of a wide range of products and carrier bags are on display also for ease. Products are also on offer within toilet facilities on all of our campuses across a number of locations and within individual cubicles for privacy. There is availability at all points throughout the academic year and throughout the summer months with the exception of Christmas holidays, however sanitary packages are made available on the lead up to this two-week closure of our buildings.

This service is free and easily obtainable to all students. There is no process to go through, products can be picked up at any time, no questions asked and there is a range of different products to choose from ranging from sanitary pads to more sustainable and reusable products. Look out for our posters and signs around the campuses that let you know where you can obtain any of our products. We will also have information about the service available during Induction and at various events across the College calendar.

The service is supported by our Student Association and we have conducted a student survey to identify the most appropriate products and the most appropriate and preferred methods of service delivery. We continue to rely on feedback to continually improve the service that we offer.
