National Certificate: Applied Science SCQF Level 5

This course allows you to study the sciences at National 5 level, developing the necessary scientific skills and expertise with a view to progressing to a Higher level course at SCQF Level 6 or directly into employment on one of the fast-growing, well-paid specialist STEM sectors.

What skills will I learn?

  • This course allows you to study the sciences at National 5 level, developing the necessary scientific skills and expertise with a view to progressing to a Higher level course at SCQF Level 6 or directly into employment on one of the fast-growing, well-paid specialist STEM sectors.

What will I study?

You can choose a minimum of two subjects from the following to study at N5 level: 

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Mathematics
  • Physics

PLUS

  • You will develop the Core Skills of information technology and communication
  • You will be expected to complete a laboratory science programme to introduce you to the Essential Skills required for a career in science
  • You will also learn about Sustainability and Environmental Sciences
