Marking this year’s Scottish Apprenticeship Week, Fife College is delighted to share another of the many inspiring apprenticeship success stories.
We're shining a spotlight on Sameer Rashid, an Automotive Modern Apprentice, whose dedication and effort have seen him shortlisted for the prestigious IMI (Institute of the Motor Industry) Apprentice of the Year Award 2024.
Sameer's journey into the automotive industry began in 2020 when he enrolled on a Level 5 Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair course at Fife College. His passion for the motor trade and his commitment to learning have been evident from the start. After successfully completing his courses up to Level 7 and achieving additional IMI qualifications, Sameer seamlessly transitioned into a Modern Apprenticeship with Maitland Motors, a testament to the supportive environment at Fife College.
Maitland Motors, a family-run garage known for its excellence, has benefited greatly from Sameer's skills and work ethic. The garage, which employs several of Fife College’s outstanding apprentices, offers great opportunities for passionate people like Sameer. His involvement in the Scottish Mini Cooper Cup racing series, where he supports the preparation of the Mini Max Racing team’s car, exemplify the real-life, hands-on experiences our apprentices engage with.
As Scottish Apprenticeship Week celebrates the achievements and contributions of apprentices across Scotland, Sameer Rashid's story highlights the success of Fife College’s commitment to fostering talent and supporting apprentices in reaching their potential. This marks the third consecutive year a Fife College apprentice has been shortlisted for the IMI Apprentice of the Year Award, following the footsteps of Coll Izatt last year and Ian Robertson, the winner in 2022.
Fife College congratulates Sameer and Maitland Motors as they prepare for the upcoming black-tie event at the InterContinental Hotel in London. This achievement not only reflects the hard work and dedication of our many apprentices but also underscores the value and impact of Modern Apprenticeships offered at Fife College.
