Fife College has announced the recipients of the Principal’s Scholarship for the 2025-26 academic year, recognising nine exceptional students in recognition of their commitment, resilience, and academic progress.
The Principal’s Scholarship provides awards of £500 each to students across the College’s three academic Schools. The scholarships are designed to support learners in achieving their ambitions by helping them access essential resources, specialist equipment and opportunities that enhance their education and career prospects.
This year’s recipients were nominated by staff in recognition of their academic success, determination and positive contribution to the college community. Many of the awardees have overcome personal challenges while continuing to excel in their studies and inspire others.
Jim Metcalfe, Fife College Principal, said:
“This fantastic group of Principal’s Scholarship winners represent the very best of our college community. I was delighted to spend time with them at the recent presentation of awards and hear more about their future plans.
“These are students who have gone the extra mile to succeed and to contribute to our College community. We are incredibly proud of the positive contribution they make to Fife College every day. We are thrilled to support them as they continue their learning journey and work towards bright and successful futures."
One of the recipients, Hannah Levack, who is studying HND 3D Interior Design, has progressed through Fife College from being a 15-year-old school leaver to producing some of the highest standard work seen on the course in recent years.
Hannah, from Kinglassie, said:
“I feel incredibly grateful to have received this award, it truly means so much to me. It’s a reminder that all the hard work really does pay off.
“As I continue to work towards my career through university and work experience, I believe this achievement will play a valuable role in helping me move into the industry.
“I would like to thank my lecturers and peers for their support and encouragement, which have helped me grow and reach this stage.”
Another scholarship recipient, Soban Ahmad Khan, who is studying HNC Mechanical Engineering, has balanced caring responsibilities and nightshift employment alongside his studies, while maintaining excellent attendance and demonstrating a strong work ethic and determination to progress to university.
Soban, from Kirkcaldy, said:
“I feel proud, excited and relieved that my hard work has paid off. It boosts my confidence and motivates me to keep achieving my goals. I will use the money to support my studies, such as paying for university costs and saving it to help with future expenses.”
Legal Services student Claire Hunter was also among the nine recipients of the Principal’s Scholarship. She was highlighted by her lecturers as an outstanding student who consistently demonstrates a high level of engagement and produces work of an exceptional standard, while also showing a strong interest in the wider legal profession.
Claire, from Edinburgh, said:
“I am truly honoured to be selected for this scholarship. As I fully support myself financially, the money will be used to purchase essential textbooks to support my learning and future studies.”
