Fife College is hosting a care job fair to launch its collaboration with the Fife Health and Social Care Partnership. This Care Academy will bring together the skills, expertise and facilities of The College with the Partnership’s links to sector employers.

The event, open to the public and students, will take place on Thursday, May 25 at Fife College’s Kirkcaldy Campus. It will connect students with key employer partners such as NHS Fife, Fife Council, Fife Voluntary Action and Scottish Care.

There is a growing demand for skilled individuals who can provide high-quality care services to the elderly and vulnerable members of society. The Fife Care Academy is designed to provide more opportunities for networking, relationship-building and ultimately new jobs within the sector for Fife College students and Fifers attending the event.

Lindsey Chisholm, Faculty Director for Care, Education and Social Sciences at Fife College, said:

"The work we are doing with the Fife Health and Social Care Partnership to create the Fife Care Academy is exciting for all involved. Helping students and members of the public who either aspire to work in caring roles, or are already employed in the sector will help bridge the gap and address the needs of the sector.

"The recruitment fair will help bring together learners and employers. It’s an exciting time to be involved in care, with so many opportunities available, it is a vocation that offers so many options for ongoing personal and career development. The College are proud to be part of this innovative group, who are actively implementing new and creative programmes to help the sector.’

Roy Lawrence, Principal Lead for Organisational Development & Culture, Fife Health and Social Care Partnership, said:

“We are delighted to be involved in this event, which will be the first for the newly established Fife Care Academy.

“This event, and the Academy itself, is an exciting initiative which sees partners demonstrating commitment to collaboration to ensure the very best for the people of Fife, both as part of our workforce and those receiving our services.

"We aim to ensure we strengthen the pathways into work for Fifers, enable our care workforce to progress and enhance their skillsets and meet growing demands and needs within the care sector now and for the future.”

The event takes place on Thursday, 25 May at Fife College, Kirkcaldy Campus from 2pm – 7pm.
