Fife College Hospitality and Events students recently enjoyed an exclusive visit to the renowned Rusacks St Andrews Hotel, gaining first-hand insight into the world of luxury hospitality.

Located in the historic town of St Andrews - a global hotspot for tourism - the hotel provided the perfect setting for students to experience the industry in action.

During the visit, students were treated to a guided tour of the hotel, a brand presentation, and lunch overlooking the world-famous Old Course. The experience offered valuable insight into the high standards and attention to detail required in a four-star hospitality environment.

Kirsty Fraser, who is studying the Advanced Certificate, Hospitality and Events enjoyed the experience, saying:

“The Rusacks was great to visit and experience, and it was good to learn about the values and leadership that are provided, and I loved the great views of the beach beside the hotel too.”

Rachel Jamieson, who is also studying the Advanced Certificate, Hospitality and Events said:

“The Rusacks visit was a really good experience with great staff talking about all the different rooms. The rooms were really clean, the standards are immaculate, they have great customer service, and I hope to go back and stay as a guest.”

Marisa Guerreiro also benefitted from the visit:

"I found it really interesting seeing behind the scenes of a luxury hotel and understanding how everything runs. It was a great experience to see the standard of food and service, and it gave me a better idea of what guests would expect when visiting the hotel. My favourite part was seeing how professional everything was and learning more about how the hotel operates day to day.”

Darren Trimble, Lecturer in Travel and Tourism, said:

“The Rusacks is the perfect venue in the heart of St Andrews, giving students a real sense of what it’s like to work in a four-star hotel, delivering exceptional service.

“The students thoroughly enjoyed the visit, and it was fantastic to see them engaging with the experience and asking questions. Opportunities like this, as they take their first steps into the industry, are invaluable. Visits to venues like the Rusacks help inspire them for the future. It truly was a first-class experience.”
